Wow! I cannot believe that its been a month since my last post. It’s been busy at my house with my husbands sports activities taking priority. I’m glad that its all over for the season.
Today I want to talk about an Essie polish I picked up a couple weeks ago. Essie’s Loot the Booty caught my eye with that bright blue and purple iridescent shimmer. This polish comes from the Summer 2016 collection that features 6 polishes that are inspired by Antigua, Guatemala. On their site, Essie describes this polish as a radiant blue sapphire pave. I would have to agree with that description. However, I was slightly disappointed that I didn’t see as much of that shimmer on the nail but its still visible up close. Think of it as a little secret that only you know about.
Since it was a deep blue I was worried about staining so I made sure I had a think peel off base coat underneath. UNT is my preferred base coat brand at the moment. One thing I noticed off the bat was the absence of the skunky smell that most blue polishes tend to have. Does this mean that it will not stain? I will know more later. The first layer went on streaky but no pooling or pulling occurred. I did notice that in order to get enough polish on the nail it required that I really load up the brush. With most polishes this would cause pooling and way too much polish to be applied. The second coat applied smoothly and quickly covered the nail. Again no pooling or pulling with the second coat and was totally opaque afterwards. Clean up around the nails was a breeze and no staining occurred. I topped this polish with Salon Perfect Crystal Clear Top Coat. It dried pretty fast and leaves the nails shiny.
So what are my final thoughts on this polish? I tend to steer away from the Essie brand and only pick up polishes that are suggested by others. I hadn’t heard much about this color but the blue and purple iridescent shimmer soaked in that deep navy blue drew me in. I had to have it. Now that I’ve worn it I am happy to say I’m glad I took the plunge and bought it.
The application of this polish makes me hopeful for Viva Antigua! that I also bought from this collection. I will let you know about that one later.
For those curious to know the other colors in this collection:
Coconut Cove- Off white
Berried Treasure- hot pink
Hiking Heels- red
Tribal Text-Styles- grey/black
Will you be picking up any?
*NOTE* No staining with this polish occurred. I don’t know if it was due to the think base coat or the polish itself.
